TESTIMONY
Dian Puspitasari,
alumni of SMAN 1 Sangatta, East Kutai
Participating in
Prestasi Junior Indonesia (PJI) programs has given me
plenty of valuable knowledge and experience. In the
program, we were introduced to the business world,
taught how to run a student company and their issues,
working together to find a solution for the company’s
progress and interact as well as communicate well both
among members and with external parties. Even though
BARSA (BARA SMANSA) Company is a small student company
run by students, who are still green about business, yet
with high spirit and good teamwork, BARSA Company at
that time was one of the student companies having a
stock value up to 500 %, which is one our proudest
achievements.
Not only that, from
PJI I gained valuable experience, namely become a
representative in the International Trading with John
Cabot’s Catholic Secondary School in Mississauga,
Canada. Other than introducing native products of the
Dayak tribe, I was also given the opportunity to
introduce one of the Dayak traditional dance called Enggang.
I am currently
working in a mining company as a geologist. Even though
my work is not related with the knowledge I gained from
PJI, I am still able to apply the knowledge and
experience I got from my training with PJI. One of them
is leadership. Becoming a leader is not just about
leading a group of people, because in our training, we
were taught how to become a good leader and able to face
challenges, which is a very useful skill for me.
My hope for the
future is that through PJI program many young
entrepreneurs are born, full of creativity and produce
incredible business. Young business people, who are
hoped to be improve the economy of East Kutai. Not
forgetting to thank PT Kaltim Prima Coal and Prestasi
Junior Indonesia, as well as SMAN 1 Sangatta, who have
given invaluable experience while I was in PJI’s
program.

NEWS
THE 2012
NATIONAL STUDENT COMPANY COMPETITION
A big thanks to everyone involved in our successful two day
National Student Company Competition and Trade Fair at city
walk mall in downtown Jakarta. Twelve student led

to set up their businesses at the Mall. They were assessed
by volunteer judges from local businesses using a wide range

advisor to compete in the Asia Pacific Competition in early

business operations selling products as diverse as insect
repellent and lamps. Numerous business volunteers from
AmCham partners and other enterprises participated as judges
– we thank you all. Also thanks to ExxonMobil for their
contribution to the success of the event. The winning teams

Jogjakarta Teams
Vie for a Place in the Nationals
An exciting, and
sometimes tense, experience was had by all at the Jogjakarta
regional Student Company Competition on Monday 21 May. A
team of judges assessed student presentations and individual
businesses to select the two best performing teams from
Jogjakarta and Sleman. Winning teams represented SMK PIRI
Jogjakarta and SMKN 1 Godean. We look forward to seeing them
in Jakarta for the National student company Competition
22-23 June.
