Dec 7, 2015 – As part of the GE Global Month of Volunteering personnel from GE Transportation worked with 63 students from SMKN 57 located in South Jakarta in a strategy to better prepare high school leavers for entry into the workforce. Five lessons were taught by a group of very enthusiastic volunteers to young Indonesians using the JA Career Success initiative which provides students with learning opportunities promoting the soft skills necessary to find good work after graduating from study. The volunteers were excellent role models as many were quite young themselves and could easily relate to the concerns the high school students had of finding employment. Therefore they were in an excellent position to provide information and offer support. A total of sixty volunteer hours contributed to this successful engagement and dialogue with students and there was no doubt that both volunteers and students left the school after the last lesson extremely satisfied with being part of the JA Career Success experience.
