PJI and ExxonMobil Launch STEMForward to Expand STEM Education in Sekolah Rakyat

Mar 12, 2026 – Prestasi Junior Indonesia (PJI), in collaboration with ExxonMobil Indonesia, officially launched STEMForward: Unlocking the Next Generation’s Potential, a program designed to expand access to quality STEM education for students in Sekolah Rakyat (community-based schools).

The program was inaugurated at Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Atas (SRMA) 10 Margaguna, South Jakarta, marking the beginning of a long-term initiative to introduce students to coding, robotics, and artificial intelligence (AI) through hands-on, project-based learning.

Strengthening Future-Ready Education Through STEM

As part of its commitment to preparing young people for the future of work, PJI brings its experiential learning approach into STEMForward—focusing on building critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Through this initiative, PJI and ExxonMobil Indonesia are implementing a structured STEM curriculum across three Sekolah Rakyat locations in Jakarta. The program not only provides engaging learning experiences for students but also supports teachers through capacity-building to ensure sustainable program delivery.

Students at SRMA 10 Margaguna demonstrated strong enthusiasm during the launch, actively participating in robotics and coding activities. The classroom visit by ExxonMobil and PJI representatives highlighted how practical, project-based learning can spark curiosity and deepen student engagement in STEM subjects.

Advancing Inclusive Access to STEM Learning

STEMForward reflects PJI’s broader mission to ensure that all young people—regardless of their background—have access to relevant and future-oriented education.

Since 2011, Prestasi Junior Indonesia has reached more than 2 million youth across Indonesia, delivering programs in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, work readiness, and STEM. Through initiatives like STEMForward, PJI continues to bridge the gap between education and industry needs.

“We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to explore and succeed in the fields shaping the future. Through STEMForward, we aim to make STEM learning more accessible, engaging, and meaningful for students,” said Siddharta Moersjid, Chairman of the Governing Board at Prestasi Junior Indonesia.

Collaboration to Build a Stronger Education Ecosystem

The launch event was attended by ExxonMobil’s global and national leadership, including Jack Williams (Senior Vice President, Exxon Mobil Corporation) and Wade Floyd (President, ExxonMobil Indonesia), alongside PJI’s Board members and school representatives—underscoring the importance of cross-sector collaboration in education.

This partnership demonstrates how collaboration between the private sector and education organizations can create a more inclusive and innovative learning ecosystem. By combining resources, expertise, and shared commitment, STEMForward aims to inspire students to pursue further education and careers in science and technology.

Supporting Indonesia’s Next Generation

As digital transformation continues to reshape industries, equipping students with STEM skills is increasingly essential. STEMForward contributes to preparing Indonesian youth to thrive in a technology-driven world while supporting national priorities on inclusive and quality education.

The launch concluded with a symbolic handover of educational support and a motivational message session for students—marking the start of a collaborative journey to unlock the next generation’s potential.
