Oct 14, 2016 – As part of the 2016 Cha-Ching Goes to School roadshow Prudential volunteers visited SDN Tanjung Duren Selatan 01 Pagi in West Jakarta and worked with 125 enthusiastic students for s period of four hours, led by Ms Nini Sumohandoyo. This, our first visit to the school, was a great success. Students learned about earning, saving, spending and donating through engagement in practical activities such as shooting baskets, cleaning windows and ‘making’ donuts. Each student, after participation, received earnings of Cha-Ching money. They were then asked to make decisions regarding the use of money – should the spend all their money in the two small stores set up for the activity? Or should they bank some of this morning using our mock banking facilities? And did the students donate any of their funds to other needy causes?
The intensive session provided students with practical decision making experiences supported by the volunteers from Prudential Jakarta office. In attendance were parents of the students and the, too, had an opportunity to learn from the experience.
