What a Day! A New Student Company Winner

Aug 26, 2017 – Prestasi Junior Indonesia held its annual Indonesian Student Company Competition in Lotte Avenue Mall on Saturday 26th August. Student companies from Sidoarjo, Semarang, Denpasar, Cisarua, Bintaro, Tangerang, Batam, and Jakarta competed for the honour of representing Indonesia in the 2018 Asia Pacific Competition scheduled for February 2018 in Beijing.

The enthusiasm manifested by all students was exceptional and really did impress the judges. Each company set up business and sold their products to customers until late in the evening. Meanwhile judges were assessing booths, student presentations, and spent time interviewing student representatives from each of the companies. It was a long day for the team of nine judges and, on behalf of all of our student beneficiaries, we thank them for their dedication over a period of almost 12 hours! These judges were;

Peter Meyer – Director American Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia

Nazly Siregar – Commissioner of Sequislife.

Nanang Siswanto – Head of Marketing, Bayer Consumer Health

Yosephine Dewi – CFO, Marsh, MMC

Robert Logie – CEO & President Director, AIG Indonesia

Christopher Dickson – Senior Teacher JIS

Taufiq Hidayat – Head of Human Resource, Marsh, MMC

Mila Feriyanti – President Director, PT Kusuma Agung

Sari Esayanti – Superintendent Corporate Communications – PT Freeport Indonesia

Additional support on the day was provided by booth judges including Wempy Dyocta Koto, Unang Mulkhan, Astri Fajarwati, and Yuni Sulistyaningrum (long-time supporters of Prestasi Junior Indonesia).

The standard of each student led micro-enterprise has, in the past improved year by year and 2017 has been no exception to this trend. Performance from these 16-17 year olds was extremely professional and it was great to be able to witness the growth in student’s performance and improvement in product innovation.

The top three teams were;

Third Place – Stella Maris International School, Tangerang

Second Place – SMAN Cisarua, Kebupaten Bandung

Winner – SMA Pembangunan Jaya, Bintaro

We thank Citi Foundation, Citi Indonesia, Bank Permata, The Caterpillar Foundation, and Pembangunan Jaya Foundation for support of student led enterprises over the period of the last six months. Without this assistance, we would not be able to stage our competition.
