Aug 11, 2018 – Sagasco SC, the student company representing SMAN 3 Semarang, won the First Place of 2018 Indonesia Student Company Competition held by Prestasi Junior Indonesia at Lotte Shopping Avenue, Jakarta, on Saturday (11/8). They outperformed 7 others teams representing 6 cities in Indonesia, including Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Denpasar, and Kutai Timur. They also got the honour to represent Indonesia in the 2019 JA Asia Pacific Company of the Year scheduled for March 2019 in Manila, Phillipines.
In this annual business competition, all student companies were assessed within a rigorous process, including company report, business presentations, and panel interviews. The participating student companies also prepared an attractive booth to showcase their products and businesses to the judges, communities, journalists, and other stakeholders. The judges were very impressed with the exceptional performance of students business and the enthusiasm manifested by all students.
Josephine Satyono, Executive Director of Indonesia Global Compact Network who was one of the jury members, said that, “First, I’d like to express my sincere appreciation for the excellent job in making the program a success. I see a significant progress in the event management and process from the previous years. I remember the early stage in early 2000s in becoming judge was we would take a couple of hours off our work combined with lunch time to go and visit the student company exhibition and provided our ratings, and the interviews to students was done at the booth. Since then this process had improved in so many ways, till the last 3 years or so I was absent, and now I witnessed a tremendous improvement. Not only the management and process, but also with the students themselves. Doing presentation in 4 minutes in front of panel judges in an open audience took really a lot of courage, and the students were very well prepared and conversant. Secondly, I was very impressed with the selection of panel judges who came from different segment of professional background. This contributed to the overall success and quality of the winners. I do admire all the judges involved in this event, it was an honor to have been involved and to get to know them all.”
