Jun 6, 2019 – Over the last 12 months ExxonMobil has provided support for students from selected schools in the areas of Bojonegoro and Tuban in Java to enable entrepreneurship education to take place. This took the form of the JA Company Program and culminated in a company competition held in Bojonegoro on Wednesday, 26 June. The teams from PJI and ExxonMobil were most impressed with the quality of student company operations and associated products – an exceptional performance by student companies who were involved in this initiative for the first time. The team of ExxonMobil volunteers, led by Mr Sigit Wagito (Regulatory Affairs Manager, South Asia Pacific) actively participated in assessing and selecting the winning company, which was SMAN 1 Tuban. This company produces shoe polish using, as a key ingredient, waste from the production of batik cloth. The winning students will now compete in the national competition in Jakarta 10th August.
The commitment of all students bodes well for the future of small business operations in the region. They have enthusiastically undertaken the responsibilities of establishing and operating their business with some very innovative ideas. With confirmation of the continuation of support from ExxonMobil during 2019-2020 even more young people will become better prepared, upon leaving formal education, to begin their own business operations.
