Jul 4, 2022 – A brand-new initiative is underway! PJI and Zurich Indonesia, together with the Z Zurich Foundation, launched the Zurich Entrepreneurship Program (ZEP) on the 30th of June 2020. This a very special initiative as it will focus on developing entrepreneurial knowledge and skills for up to 9,000 students from 50 schools over three years. The funding of IDR7,200,000,000 will enable student participation in the JA Company Program, JA Job Shadow, and a work readiness experience supported by the great volunteers from Zurich. The objective, for both Zurich and PJI, is to instill a propensity amongst youth to establish their own business entity upon graduation or, as they are currently at high school, seek to further their understanding of business by enrolling in similar courses at the university level. In addition, many of these student beneficiaries come from families that already operate small businesses and, although they have experience, these business owners lack knowledge of key skills to strengthen their business (such as the integration of digital technology). Zurich and PJI will work together to assist youth to achieve aspirations and grow the number and contribution of small businesses in Indonesia in the future. This may be a lofty goal but we know that the best place to start is with 15–17-year-olds currently matriculating at high school level. The Government agrees with us, and we now have an MOU from the Ministry of Education and Culture enabling entry into every high school throughout the nation with the ZEP (another) innovative entrepreneur education programs. On behalf of all the students we serve, PJI thanks Zurich Indonesia and the Z Zurich Foundation for their tremendous support and we look forward to making a positive impact together.
