The International Trade Challenge Supported by FedEx Express

May 20, 2023 – As a result of the very special support from FedEx Express PJI has been able to introduce and run the Indonesian International Trade Challenge in multiple schools across the nation. On Saturday 20th May ten of these schools entered the National Challenge with each school involving a small team of two students. The students from the winning three teams, as selected by the judges, advance to the FedEx Express Asia Pacific competition involving ten nations from across the region. Students were required to address the following trade challenge through a presentation and a series of Q & A from the judges.

Creating a market strategy for sustainable alternatives which will reduce the usage of single use products for South Africa.

A member of the judging panel was Mr Tonny Hendriawan – the Head of Indonesian Trade Promotion based in the Republic of Indonesia Embassy in Johannesburg, South Africa. His commitment was evident as, due to time zones, he engaged at 3 am South Africa time! It was also great to have Mr Garrick Thompson, Managing Director FedEx Express Indonesia, involved throughout the day as a standout judge for each of the presentations. These gentlemen were joined by Lena Karolina, Founder of Sustainable Indonesia and Nina Azzahra, Environmental Youth Activist. These committed judges selected the following teams and schools as winners and representatives of Indonesia at the Asia Pacific level.

First Place Winner: Sustainesia – SMA IAS Al Jannah, Depok
Second Place Winner: Dirandra Pandega – SMAN 1 Wonosobo
Third Place Winner: The Visionary – SMA Karangturi Semarang

A great performance from these teams and we all wish them the best in the regional event. Thank you FedEx for supporting youth entrepreneurship in Indonesia via a fantastic International Trade concept. This certainly widens the horizons of the nations youth.
