Oct 15, 2025 – A new milestone in Indonesia’s digital education journey was achieved as Amazon Web Services (AWS), in collaboration with Prestasi Junior Indonesia, Alkademi Foundation, and Yayasan Sagasitas Indonesia, successfully set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® title for the “Most Applications Made in an On-site Generative AI (Gen AI) Event.”
More than 2,600 students and teachers from 21 high schools across West Java joined the record-breaking initiative to create Generative AI applications using AWS PartyRock, a platform that enables anyone to experiment with and build AI-powered apps easily and enjoyably.
Empowering Young Innovators Through Generative AI
To inspire young innovators to discover the power of Artificial Intelligence, Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosted this world record attempt as part of its ongoing commitment to expanding access to AI learning opportunities in Indonesia.
During the one-day on-site event, participants submitted over 20,000 ideas and successfully developed more than 15,000 verified Generative AI applications. This achievement goes beyond setting a world record — it represents a collective effort to empower high school students with hands-on experience in Generative AI, nurturing their critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills to thrive in today’s digital era.
A Journey of Collaboration and Learning
The record attempt was the culmination of a month-long program that began with AWS-led training sessions for trainers and continued with orientation workshops for thousands of students. Through this process, participants learned how to identify problems, design AI-based solutions, and collaborate in teams to develop their own Generative AI applications.
On October 13, 2025, thousands of students across West Java simultaneously conceptualized ideas, built applications through PartyRock, and uploaded their creations to JelajahAI.id — a platform developed to allow the public to explore and learn from the students’ AI innovations.
The record-setting event was conducted from participating schools and the Amazon Think Big Space at SMKN 1 Karawang, under the rigorous verification process of a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® adjudicator, ensuring that all applications were functional and unique.
Celebrating a Milestone for Indonesia’s Digital Future
Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure & Regional Development, praised the students’ accomplishment, “Today our students in West Java have done something amazing. They have made history by breaking a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD. By building thousands of AI projects in just one day, these young creators have shown that Indonesia is not just ready for the digital future. We are helping to build it. When we give our young people the right tools and training, they can do incredible things on the world stage. I want to thank Amazon Web Services for helping make this possible through their dedication to growing Indonesia’s tech talents. This record is more than just a number. It shows that Indonesia is becoming a powerful force in the world of technology.”
Robert Gardiner, Academic Advisor and Operations Counsel of Prestasi Junior Indonesia, added, “This recognition from GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ represents a remarkable milestone in our collaboration with Amazon Web Services to advance digital literacy and innovation among Indonesian youth. We extend our appreciation to all participating schools, educators, and the Prestasi Junior Indonesia team whose dedication and commitment made this achievement possible.”
Jaime Vallés, Vice President and General Manager, Asia Pacific & Japan, AWS, said, “The future of innovation and growth across APJ lies in democratizing access to transformative technologies including generative AI. Earning this GUINNESS WORLD RECORD is an extraordinary achievement by the over 2600 students and educators who have shown what is possible when we as one community Think Big, embrace Day 1 culture, and leverage Cloud and Gen AI technology together. AWS is committed to ensuring as many Indonesians as possible have access to Gen AI education and skilling so that we can solve some of the country’s biggest challenges and opportunities together as well as prepare local builders for the global digital economy.”
